To all our valued VOSCH customers,
Hope your all well, we are making contact with all our VOSCH customers in regards to the safety guide 608 alert [April 2021 Issue (1) Ver 6], that has been released by FISA and the ARB Association for the safe use of “Tree Shears and Grapple Saws”
You can download the document from the link below if haven’t seen it yet.
Richard Court Forestry Engineering take the safety of operators and members of the public very seriously. We have been actively involved with The FISA Plant & Equipment Working Group for some time now and have explained the technical and practical use of Grapple Saw’s and Tree Shears in an operational environment.
We believe the VOSCH Grapple Saw’s to be one of the safest saws on the market at the moment. We have been working in the background with the VOSCH factory, to establish if the risk of chain shot exists given the current Grapple Saw’s operating parameters that are set when installed by Richard Court Forestry Engineering.
To confirm this vital safety information VOSCH and Richard Court Forestry Engineering are jointly undertaking further testing to the required ISO Standards, along with the addition it also uses high speed cameras to record the results.
Richard Court Forestry Engineering are predicting that these tests will prove that the risk of chain shot is negligible, with the chain speeds that the VOSCH saw operate at. The results are estimated to be with us within a month. The results shall be made available to any parties that require this information to update their company’s safety documentation and operating procedures for VOSCH Grapple Saw’s.
We have also posted a short film on our website showing a VOSCH Grapple Saw (Right) running next to a harvesting head (Left) to show the difference in operating speeds. This film was captured from outside the safe working zone using a drone.

Safety of grapple saw operator is of highest concern and relies on the installed OPS/FOPS/ROPS protection systems and the VOSCH equipment being maintained as outlined in the operators and installers manual. Guidance on the working risk zones can be found in the operators manual or for further information on the FISA website.
Please feel free to contact us with any concerns or questions.
Regards
Richard Court
